Industry Consortium

Update: The initial deadline has been extended to May 31.

Are you a graduate student or postdoc interested in industry? Maybe you’re not quite sure what “industry” really means! Or perhaps you have a good sense of what industry is, and you want to extend your network in industry to further your personal or professional goals.

For the first time, ICCP 2023 is introducing an Industry Consortium to foster stronger connections between academia and industry. Many students and postdocs have little experience outside of academia but most will end up having a career in industry. The Industry Consortium is a targeted networking event to help graduate students and postdocs prepare for collaboration with or careers in industry.

Format
Student mentees will be matched with industry mentors for a face-to-face conversation at ICCP 2023 to address their questions about industry. Discussion topics may include: what careers in industry are available based on their research background and skills, how to spin their research off into a startup, how to effectively search and apply for jobs, what challenges or opportunities someone with a similar background may face in industry, etc.

Mentee application

Application for participation in the Industry Consortium is now open! Please fill out the Google Form here. If selected, we’ll do our best to find an industry mentor that best meets your goals for the consortium. The main components of the application will include:

  • CV/resume
  • Brief research statement
  • Brief statement of goals for the mentorship program (what you would like to discuss with your mentor)
  • List of potential industry professionals whom you wish to have as a mentor.

Travel Grant

Applicants who are students at US-based universities will be eligible for a travel grant of up to $1000.
We will prioritize applicants from groups that are underrepresented in the ICCP community, as well as applicants that will not be able to attend ICCP 2023 without a grant.

Mentor application

Serving as a mentor is a great opportunity to meet top students in computational photography, promote your company, and give back to the community!

If you are a member of industry, are planning to attend ICCP 2023, and are willing to be a mentor, send an email to iccp-2023-industry-consortium@googlegroups.com with the subject “ICCP Industry Consortium,” and we’ll add you to the list of potential mentors.
